Look Ma, No Car!

We bike or walk everywhere.

There have been only two times I have put my bike on the tram, once when it was pouring buckets, the other when it was too hot. (Since I am not skilled at replacing flat tires, it is really nice to have the tram close by just in case!)

We bike to the suburbs for aperitifs and for dinner parties. We bike to shop. We bike to school and to our French lessons where wildflowers add color to the side of the road.

Our French teacher, Gilda, has a husband, Fish, who is a long distance rider like Bob. So now Bob is discovering picturesque long-distance hilly bike rides, mostly toward Pic St. Loup.

Bikely offers other ideas for tested long distance rides in this area.

Yes, we get headwinds here, so Bob decides on his exercise route each day after checking out the flags which are visible even through the haze. To the left: Head for the hills, not toward the headwinds from the Mediterranean. On the left: no problem in any direction!
